UQ brings future-ready mining education to AIMEX 2025

Driven by the evolving needs of the global resources sector, The University of Queensland (UQ) is equipping the workforce with the skills they need to tackle complex global challenges, and will showcase its expanded portfolio at AIMEX 2025.

So, whether you’re looking to up-skill, collaborate, or explore new pathways, visit the UQ stand at AIMEX 2025 to find out what’s on offer.

UQ’s latest offerings include a suite of postgraduate qualifications developed in partnership with global mining services provider, Thiess, The Graduate Certificate in Resource Development offers two specialised fields: Mining Foundations, tailored for professionals with backgrounds in civil, mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering without formal mining training; and Mining Operations, aimed at those with existing mining knowledge looking to advance their careers. The Graduate Diploma in Resource Development combines both fields into a comprehensive program.

“At UQ, we’ve been training mining engineers for 75 years,” Head of UQ’s School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering, Professor Ross McAree, said. “These new offerings reflect how we’re evolving with the industry, providing education that is work-integrated, interdisciplinary, and focused on future needs.”

UQ is also showcasing its Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with a major in Mining Engineering, integrated with civil, mechanical and mechatronic specialisations, which provides a broad foundation for modern mining careers.
