SLR Consulting debuting environmental consultancy services at AIMEX

29 Aug 2011

SLR Consulting will promote its environmental advice and management services for the mining and minerals sector on Stand H1189 during AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition 2011, to be held at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush, from September 6-9.

According to the consultancy, which is exhibiting at AIMEX for the first time, such advice is essential for sustainable operation – with SLR Consulting’s team of engineers and scientists having the resources to manage all environmental aspects of a mine’s lifecycle.

The company has been involved internationally with the environmental aspects of exploration, mineral resource planning and mine development for more than 30 years.

It describes its work as site-specific with capabilities tailored to clients’ needs across various continents and projects of varying size and complexity, and with the ideologies of sustainable practice and legislative compliance as the drivers behind its service delivery.

"To facilitate the identification of preferred mine site and infrastructure locations and subsequent optimised designs we specialise in applying and embedding practical contemporary sustainability tools and frameworks into each stage of a mine’s development," said SLR Consulting’s sustainability director Antony Sprigg.

"This is achieved by applying triple bottom line integrated options analysis and sustainability in design processes, supported by measurement and reporting."

SLR Consulting also helped clients with understanding the costs, risks and opportunities associated with carbon and the impacts of climate change, he said.

SLR Consulting, which has offices in Australasia, Europe, North America and Africa, describes itself as one of a very small number of truly international specialist environmental consultancies providing advice and support on a wide range of strategic and site-specific issues to a diverse and growing base of business, regulatory and governmental clients.

It specialises in the energy, mining and minerals, waste management, planning and development, infrastructure and industrial sectors.
