AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition 2011, to be held in Sydney from September 6-9, has signed up a number of international pavilions – which give smaller suppliers a venue to show their products and services to the Australian and Asia-Pacific mining sectors.
International pavilions featuring at this year’s AIMEX include the United States, Germany, China, India, South Africa, Canada and France.
One of the largest pavilions will be the German one, at around 600 sq m and with nearly 20 companies signed up, including Voith, Eickhoff, Siemag and Schaeffler.
Dominik Baiat, Reed Exhibitions’ International Sales Group’s German-based international sales & marketing manager, said German manufacturers and suppliers saw AIMEX as being a key exhibition due to a number of factors.
"The size of our pavilion at AIMEX 2011 is a reflection of global interest in the Australian market and the standing of this exhibition as a world-class event, and gateway to Asia," he said.
"And as the show takes place only every four years, it presents a unique gathering of buyers from all over Australia and Asia.
"It’s one of the most influential and successful mining trade shows in the world – and considering Australia is one of the world’s most active mining markets – it provides an unrivalled sales, marketing and networking opportunity for German mining industry suppliers.
"It’s a chance for our exhibitors to generate sales leads, deliver new business and build new relationships face-to-face at an international exhibition in an international location," said Baiat.
The US Pavilion, covering a total area of 264 sq m, will feature suppliers – both existing and those new to the Australian market – supporting President Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI). It will also include "sub-pavilions" from the states of Pennsylvania and West Virginia – both major coal-mining regions.
According to Joan Williams, Energy Program Manager for Kallman Wordwide, the host for the US Pavilion, participants will be among scores of US suppliers and business organisations at AIMEX 2011.
"These exhibitors will offer the latest in US energy equipment, technology and services," she said.
"They will be exploring opportunities to partner with end users, agents and distributors of technologies and services to the global marketplace."
Williams said both the US and Australia had a long history of collaboration in energy exploration and development.
"AIMEX 2011 offers an opportunity to broaden and deepen this relationship through new business partnerships between US suppliers and firms from throughout the Asian-Pacific region," she said.
For visitors, AIMEX 2011 will be a significantly larger exhibition than the previous edition in 2007, said Paul Baker, Reed’s exhibition director, industrial events.
"With more than 500 exhibiting companies taking up over 20,000 sq m of exhibition space - which is around 10% greater than the last AIMEX in 2007 - it will be the biggest-ever mining event held in Australia," he said.
"The event is now essentially sold out, and we are now focussing all our activities on ensuring the best-possible turnout of visitors to this year’s AIMEX."
