Atlas Copco Construction & Mining Australia
Proven automation technology in operation in Australia now
All rigs on Atlas Copco's stand feature RCS4 - Atlas Copco’s sophisticated rig control system and are automation ready. On the stand will be Pit Viper 235 rotary blasthole rig, Simba L6C underground production drill, SmartROC D65 surface crawler and Pit Viper simulator.
RCS4 rig automation platform has been designed to improve operator safety, improve penetration consistency and drill consumable economy. But there are many more benefits, sometimes overlooked, such as faster fault detection, lower maintenance costs and enhanced rig availability.
SmartROC D65 “The Beast” offers full single-hole drill cycle automation, trouble shooting support from the cabin display, flexibility and hole diameters of 110 - 203 mm.
PitViper 235 Single-pass 40 ft (12.2 m) drilling increases overall footage without adding rods. RCS offers automation for levelling, drilling, machine data collection and GPS positioning over the next hole.
Simba L6C features smooth and precise boom positioning, has a rod handling system for up to 27+ 1 rods (up to 51 metres), powerful COP 4050 MUX rockdrill with extractor device for 89mm – 115mm holes and, with ABC Total, a fully automated drilling cycle. Underground automation includes; Total Station Navigation, Rig Remote Access and Single Teleremote. Total Station Navigation reduces the reliance on surveyors for designing drill plans as this can be done by the operator. Rig Remote Access allows surface supervision with remote viewing of the operators panel allowing diagnostics to be done from the surface minimising maintenance errors. Single Teleremote works through wireless LAN exchange from the rig to the operators teleremote panel allowing remote operation of the drilling function.
