Dr Vanessa Guthrie is a highly regarded and recognised industry leader with more than 30 years’ experience in the mining and resources industries. Until 2016, she was the MD & CEO of ASX-listed Toro Energy, and is currently Chair of the Minerals Council of Australia, Deputy Chair of the WACA and a Member of the Board of the ABC.  She is an experienced Non-Executive Director in ASX-listed companies, Government and not-for-profit boards including previously with Nova Energy Limited, Reed Resources Limited, WA Water Corporation and various advisory and statutory boards for government.

Vanessa has qualifications in geology, environment, law and business management including a PhD in Geology.  She was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science from Curtin University in 2017 for her contribution to sustainability, innovation and policy leadership in the resources industry.  She is an active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and Chief Executive Women (CEW), and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE).

Vanessa has been recognised by the WA mining industry with the award of the Outstanding Professional Woman from the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy (2013) and was as one of the world’s Top 100 list of inspirational women in mining globally. ‘The Deal’ (a publication by The Australian newspaper) recently ranked Vanessa as number 45 in its list of the 50 most influential women in business in Australia.
